About Me

Hello, I’m Becky!  I’ve been baking for as long as I can remember.  My mum was a great cook in the classic English country tradition; nourishing meals on a tight budget, always a pudding and homemade cakes, plus jams and pickles and produce from the garden.  She taught me well.

I studied Home Economics in Bath and taught Food in Kent, Barnet, Herts and Suffolk schools from kindergarten to A-Level until I hung up my apron in 2016.  On maternity breaks I worked for Waitrose and when my husband’s work moved us abroad I volunteered in my children’s schools.  I have judged WI cake and jam competitions, run survival workshops for school leavers and elderly gentlemen and now I’m building a library of “how-to-bake…” videos on my YouTube channel.  You might have guessed that I feel strongly about food education!

Being able to present a well-made dish to your family and friends is a joy for both you and them.  And it’s not difficult if you know how.  I hope that I might inspire and help you to build your repertoire. So…“First the oven, then the tin. Wash your hands and let’s begin!”
